Meddling has been going since 2015 offering data tools for A&Rs in the music industry. Its latest launch riffs off that: a free listing service tracking artist signings, and also artists who have come out of deals.
The company says it is tracking label affiliations of artists “as they change between releases based on copyright changes”, but people can submit reports of changes manually too.
“As independent market share continues to explode, I want Meddling to be helpful to all segments of the industry without compromising on the premium data platform,” said CEO Travis Rosenblatt (pictured).
“By launching a free deal flow service, I hope more people can get an idea of how leveraging data can save them time at all rungs of the ladder.”
Now, we may be burying the lede here, but when we checked in on the listings service this morning, one of the artists listed as newly ‘out of deal’ was… Peppa Pig! Here’s some useful research material for any A&Rs taking her out to lunch in the hopes of striking a deal…
But almost-certainly-not-dropped-cartoon-characters aside, Meddling’s new listings look like a helpful tool for the industry.
